The argument

He told them the time.

The New Testament stamps the coming, the judgment, and the turning of the ages with ordinary words of nearness — and it stamps them on living people. Atavist theology is the decision to let those words mean the cohort that heard them, through two wars, not one afternoon and not twenty centuries.

One cohort, not forty centuries

Jesus begins to preach around AD 26. The Temple falls in AD 70. Bar Kokhba dies in AD 135. Hadrian’s city sits on Jerusalem in AD 136. That is the generation. Full preterism stops the clock at the first war. Futurism never lets it strike.

What the case is not

It is not a claim that history stopped, or that suffering is over, or that the nations no longer need healing. It is not full preterism’s compression of Revelation 20 into AD 70. It is a claim about which age ended. Second Temple Judea — Temple, sacrifice, Hasmonean leftovers, militant messianism — reached its public end when the first war took the house apart and the second war scattered the last chaff. The mountain that fills the earth is the Age of Jesus Christ, world without end.
